Inspiration to pursue a career in design: As a child I was always building and creating things inside and outside. As a young teenager, I was always moving around the furniture in my bedroom and adding new elements to make my room look different. I will never forget when my mom came home from a long day of work and her living room was redesigned the way I thought it should look. Even at a young age I knew that I had an artistic flair to me, I was good with my mind and hands, and knew how to put it all together!
Favorite design tip: Go with your heart, surround yourself with things you love. Each room should have a reflection of you and your personality. If your favorite color is green, add a splash of green as the signature of completion to that room.
Best advice to clients: I know that my clients are going to feel more comfortable with me if they get to know me and my personality first. Once that initial introduction is made, I like to figure out my clients’ personal style, your home should reflect you and your family. After a redesign, I want my client to think, “I am so happy to be home.”
My personal style: I feel that everyone has a bit of a “transitional” taste in their design. There have been so many changes to colors, lines, textures and mixing and matching that I have to be open to the “transitional” style. Functionality in design is also important. We all live busy day to day lives, that everything having a place and purpose is a key element to any design. Most import I design and have fun! I never want anyone to feel that their job is redesigning a room!
